Imagine missing school because your tooth aches or having to skip work because you can't afford a dentist.

In California, kids miss 874,000 school days each year due to dental pain. 1 in 4 illness-related work absences are tied to poor oral health. And 1 in 5 seniors have lost all their natural teeth.

Now, with federal Medicaid cuts threatening Medi-Cal, access to basic dental care is slipping further out of reach for thousands of our neighbors.

At Sonrisas, we believe no one should suffer because they can’t afford a dentist. That’s why we’re launching the Neighbors Stepping Up campaign — and we need you.

Your gift will:

• Provide compassionate dental care to 4,000+ children and families who can’t afford it

• Screen 4,200 students in public schools and special education programs

• Support 200 seniors with care navigation and nutrition coaching

In one of the wealthiest counties in the nation, 100,000 people still live on less than $50,000 a year. These are our neighbors — children, working families, seniors, immigrants — and they deserve better.
