Imagine missing school because your tooth aches or having to skip work because you can't afford a dentist.

In California, kids miss 874,000 school days each year due to dental pain. 1 in 4 illness-related work absences are tied to poor oral health. And 1 in 5 seniors have lost all their natural teeth.

Now, with federal Medicaid cuts threatening Medi-Cal, access to basic dental care is slipping further out of reach for thousands of our neighbors.

At Sonrisas, we believe no one should suffer because they can’t afford a dentist. That’s why we’re launching the Neighbors Stepping Up campaign — and we need you.

Your gift will:

Provide compassionate dental care to 4,000+ children and families who can’t afford it
Screen 4,200 students in public schools and special education programs
Support 200 seniors with care navigation and nutrition coaching

In one of the wealthiest counties in the nation, 100,000 people still live on less than $50,000 a year. These are our neighbors — children, working families, seniors, immigrants — and they deserve better.
