GUEST SPEAKER: Tanya Skeckley, Founder, UP Academy
Tanya Sheckley is Founder and President of UP Academy, an elementary lab school which values innovation, empathy and strength and incorporates a unique neuro-development program for children with physical disabilities. UP Academy teaches communication, collaboration and problem solving skills to prepare students for a future we can’t imagine. She is a Social Entrepreneur, Writer, and National Speaker. Tanya earned her BA in Public Heath and Dance and her MBA in Entrepreneurship.
Tanya is an educator and parent who, like many others, is working from home while supporting her children's education. She will discuss how to work from home successfully, effectively school your children and how to make educational plans for the fall in this uncertain time. She will cover key strategies to work from home while schooling your children: setting up space, arranging a schedule, providing independence. She will share multiple educators perspectives, from her interview series Voices of Educators, on what is important work to do with your children during this time, hint: it's more about respect and trust than worksheets. Lastly, how to make plans for the fall given the uncertain circumstances. You will leave feeling confident in your ability to accomplish both your and your childrens priorities, now, and in the future.
