About Us
Hiller Aviation Museum uses aviation as a gateway for people to embrace adventure and innovation while using tools of science to explore how the physical world works and how the dream of flight is made into reality.
Hiller Aviation Museum was opened to the public in 1998 by helicopter designer and inventor Stanley Hiller Jr. and features a collection of more than 50 aircraft representing more than a century of aviation history. In recognition of its value to the cultural and educational life of the community, the Museum was awarded status as a Smithsonian Affiliate in 2009.
Hiller Aviation Museum is a 501(c)(3) Northern California nonprofit and educational institution. The museum has welcomed more than 1.9 million visitors since opening its doors. With 118,000 annual visitors, including 54,000 youth, the museum is focused on delivering education programs for pre-K through grade 12 audiences and welcomes 10,000 students on school field trips annually. Other programs include Aviation Camp, Aero Design Challenge, and Scout badges and workshops.
The Museum hosts many annual public events, several of which see an attendance of about 2,000 visitors, including: Biggest Little Air Show, Smithsonian Museum Day, and Noon Years. Open Cockpit Days take place regularly throughout the year.
The Museum is also rented for private events, such as corporate functions, birthday parties, weddings, etc. Gourmet Food Trucks visit the Museum every Wednesday and for special events.
